Tiger Woods gewinnt Golf-Masters - seine Karriere

Der Masters-Champion, der das Saisonfinale in Atlanta im vergangenen Jahr noch gewonnen hatte, schloss die BMW Championship in Medinah/Illinois mit insgesamt sieben Schlägen unter Par ab. Damit schaffte es Woods nicht in die Top 30, die am Wochenende um eine Siegprämie von 15 Millionen Dollar spielen.

"Bei manchen Turnieren habe ich nicht so gut gespielt, wie ich gerne gewollt hätte", sagte Woods. "Aber ich habe das grüne Jackett." Der nächste geplante Einsatz für den Amerikaner findet im Oktober in Japan statt, das neue Event der PGA-Tour ist bereits Teil der Saison 2019/20.

Der FedExCup wird traditionell im Playoff-Format ausgetragen. Zum Auftakt in Jersey City hatten sich insgesamt 70 Profis für das Event in Medinah qualifiziert.
