Die Boston Red Sox hatten es eilig. Der World-Series-Gewinner benötigte nur zwölf Minuten, um das vor gut zwei Wochen abgebrochene Spiel gegen die Kansas City Royals in der Major League Baseball für sich zu entscheiden. Am Ende gewann der Meister 5:4.

"Wir haben einen freien Tag verloren, weil wir das Spiel zu Ende bringen mussten und einen langen Flug nach San Diego vor uns. Deshalb wollten wir es so schnell beenden wie möglich", sagte Red-Sox-Profi Brock Holt.

Viele Fans genossen das kurze Vergnügen. Kinder hatten freien Eintritt, die Karten für Erwachsene kosteten nur fünf Dollar, alle Einnahmen gingen an eine Wohltätigkeitsorganisation für Krebskranke.
